FAMILY FUN AND GAMES
Like many Central New York families with young children, the DiBlasi's spend a lot of time at youth athletic events. Saturday mornings in June and July Jim and Healther DiBlasi could usually be found at the Henniger athletic fields watching three of their four children playing in the Eastwood Youth Soccer League.

MEMORIAL DAY
Spafford
On Saturday, Jim DiBlasi was the featured speaker at the Town of Spafford Memorial Day Observance in Borodino. DiBlasi spoke briefly about the significance of the Battle of Borodino, the largest and bloodiest one-day battle of the Napoleonic Wars. He went on to speak of American war veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
The Spafford observances featured a parade and wreath-laying at the town’s war monument at the Borodino crossroads. Spafford Supervisor Webb Stevens gave the welcome, Town Councilor Kenneth Lieberman the introduction and Pastor David Olcott, of Rose Hill Baptist Church, the invocation. VFW Amber Post 5494 members presented the colors. The National Anthem was sung by the Borodino United Methodist Church Choir and Curtis Ledermann and Edwin Lukins laid the wreath.
The Spafford observance presented the kind of Norman Rockwell scene that is replicated in small towns all across the United States every Memorial Day.

Veterans Cemetery
Sunday, Jim DiBlasi attended Onondaga County’s Memorial Day observance at the County Veterans Cemetery. Veterans who served from World War II to the present were present. All services were represented.
The keynote speaker was William Connor, who lost son in Iraq. Other speakers included Congressman Jim Walsh, County Executive Nick Pirro, and County Legislature Chairman Dale Sweetland. A memorial wreath was placed before the flagpole. It was a beautiful and moving ceremony on a warm sunny day.
The Veterans Cemetery was dedicated in 1987. One of the few county operated veterans cemeteries in New York, it is dedicated to veterans and the family
members of veterans shared in our country’s defense.
